Reflection on 2019 and Resolutions for Next Year
With just about a week left in the year, I will poetically reflect on this year and share my resolutions for next year.
Reflection on This Year
For the past three years, I have been fortunate to have good opportunities and experiences both personally and professionally. I believe this year was particularly good. Since it's cumbersome, I'll list things out roughly.
Public Aspects
I want to pick out individual matters to write about, but there are so many that it would become quite tedious, so I’ll just summarize.
- I was able to experience a role similar to that of a lead engineer.
- This is a very simple way to put it, but I learned how important teamwork is and how it greatly influences outcomes. Until now, I often focused on individuals, but thinking from a team perspective has broadened my horizons and has been a good experience.
- I have some conflict about whether I am just satisfying myself, so I want to resolve that.
- I gained experience.
- I was in an environment where I could try things I had no experience with technically, so I feel like I gained some experience in that sense. I think I leaned more towards defense rather than challenging aspects this year. I want to reverse that ratio next year.
- The company went public.
- I feel grateful to have experienced a phase that seems hard to come by.
- Beyond just the milestone of going public, there seems to be a flow where the organization is flexibly changing with the company's growth, so it looks like there are opportunities for interesting experiences on the technical side as well.
Private Aspects
- I conquered all PHP conferences nationwide.
- This was something I wanted to do at least once. cf. I completed all PHP conferences in 2019
- I absorbed various inputs.
- I aimed to increase my input this year, so I spent a lot of time digesting unread books, doing various research, and writing blog posts bit by bit.
- Originally, I am output-oriented, so I feel like I can return to focusing on output next year.
- I aimed to increase my input this year, so I spent a lot of time digesting unread books, doing various research, and writing blog posts bit by bit.
- I fully understood Golang.
- I wrote a lot of Go in my private time, so I have a decent grasp...
- I want to try new languages next year, but since Go is fun, I will continue writing it.
- I got married.
- A new chapter in life has begun.
I am secretly summarizing various technical aspects in my daily outputs and resumes, so I will skip the individual discussions as they are tedious. (Although there is much more to write about that...)
Resolutions for Next Year
I will strive to create a better tomorrow than today in both my personal and professional life, and as a result, I want to continue on an upward trajectory next year.
As for my technical resolutions for next year, I believe the phrase:
"Break free from the humanities"
fits perfectly.
Considering the areas I want to learn next year, it feels like that is the direction I should take.
The end.
