Communication Guide for Developers and Architects: Learning Information Transmission through Patterns is a book I read.
The book covers topics related to communication, such as visual information, text, language and non-verbal cues, and documentation.
Personally, I felt that the title could be interpreted as a documentation guide for software engineers.
The content is easy to read, so it can be finished in a few hours.
Although I didn't find much new information, I felt that the content is something that people involved in software development should have as a common understanding.
I think it would be a suitable recommended reading for organizations and teams.
Since communication uncertainty and instability can affect group performance, it might be good to use this book as a guide.
Three points left an impression on me:
- The content considers diversity
- A fair amount of pages are dedicated to ADR
- It touches on remote work (though returning to the office seems to be a trend lately...)
The content seems to be aimed at juniors, but even for someone with a certain level of experience like myself, it was good to realize areas where I understand but am not fully proficient or skilled. (Especially my presentation materials...)
