I read The Book You Wish Your Parents Had Read.
British psychotherapist Philippa Perry wrote this book about parenting and the parent-child relationship. Rather than collecting discipline techniques, it puts weight on how you build a relationship with your child and how you face your own emotions.
What stayed with me was the view that a parent need not stay perfect; what matters is how you repair things after you slip. Her point that your own upbringing quietly shadows how you treat your child stung a little, yet it rang true.
As a parent myself, I found it a quiet but lasting read that made me look again at how I show up, more than at any technique.
